A Steinway Concert Jazz Artist, and award winning jazz composer and clinician, Lenore Raphael has been called “Queen of swing” and “simply one of the best pianists in the jazz mainstream” by jazz writer John Gilbert. Listening to the recordings of Bud Powell, Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans she developed her swinging and lyrical style, but she has distinguished her voice as her own. Lenore has performed at major jazz festivals and venues such as the Panasonic Village Jazz Festival (NYC), Ottawa International Jazz Festival, Jazz In The Sangres, Jazz At Lincoln Center, Birdland, Ronnie Scott’s (London), the S.S. Oosterdam Floating Jazz Festival and many more. Her performance at a tribute to Oscar Peterson during the IAJE convention in Toronto brought famed vocalist Jon Hendricks to say “She is one of the ‘baddest’ pianists out there. Lenore has 5 CDs on the Swingin’ Fox label and her 6th CD “Class Act” has just been released. With top play on radio stations across the globe her 2007 CD “Invitation” was up for GRAMMY nomination. Her original songs have been heard on Continental Airlines jazz stream and on the ASCAP jazz stream. A recent tour of the United Kingdom with a stop at Ronnie Scott’s famed club in London brought Lenore a review that stated “Raphael is one of the most highly inventive and rhythmic of players” (..Sheila Tacey, The Stage Magazine) and “Her swinging performance was in the mainstream with obvious runs and the technique of her idol, Oscar Peterson. A return engagement is guaranteed.”…Jack Masserik, JazzWise magazine. Along the way she has performed with such jazz greats as Clark Terry, Wycliffe Gordon, Ken Peplowski, Jon Hendricks, Warren Vache, Jay Leonhart, Marlene VerPlanck, Giacomo Gates and many more. Eddie Palmieri Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican pianist Eddie Palmieri is known for his charismatic power and bold innovative drive. Nicknamed "the sun of latin music," he has played a key role in Latin music's Afro-Caribbean jazz movement and in drum-based improvisational salsa music. Palmieri’s musical career spans over 50 years as a bandleader of latin salsa and jazz orchestras. Born in Spanish Harlem, Eddie Palmieri began piano studies at an early age, and at age 11, Palmieri auditioned at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. He began his professional career as a pianist in the early 1950s with Eddie Forrester’s Orchestra and also played with various bands such as the Tito Rodriguez Orchestra before forming his own band. In 1961, Palmieri formed the legendary band, La Perfecta, which distinguished itself by featuring a trombone section and a flute in place of trumpets, demonstrating his unconventional style of orchestration. The band reigned supreme until 1968, and became known as one of the most influential and imitated bands in Latin music history. With a discography that includes 36 titles, Palmieri has been awarded nine Grammy Awards. He received a Latin Grammy and a traditional Grammy for his release with Tito Puente entitled Obra Maestra/Masterpiece, Listen Here! in 2006, and Simpatico in 2007 for Best Latin Jazz Recording, which was a collaborative effort with trumpet master Brian Lynch. The Smithsonian Institute recorded two of Palmieri’s performances for its catalog of the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., a rare public honor. His numerous awards include the Eubie Blake Award by Dr. Billy Taylor, the Alice Tully African Heritage Award, the Harlem Renaissance Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from Urban Latino magazine. We're thrilled to start our Women of Jazz month with Gabrielle Goodman. She has been a hard-working example of the respect that females bring to the genre. She grew up in a house of Jazz as well as the classics. She sang in Gospel choirs and heard the sounds of the street that gave her the extra edge in soulful delivery. And she brings all of that to a sumptious table, served with champagne and cavier. That's what she brings to the genre of Jazz. That's why she has been sought all these years as the perfect element of class and style to any noteworthy endeavor. We can't wait to hear what's next! As the columnist Stephen Israel wrote, "I have heard the new voice of Jazz - and it's Gabrielle Goodman." As the saying goes - I know THAT'S right :)

Amys relationship with singer/songwriter Felicia Carter is a thing of productive beauty. Amy performed, arranged and co-produced Felicias double CD, "Feather/Step Lightly." And they worked together on music and lyrics for a TV documentary about the B & O Railroad. That aired on the Washington, DC based WETA in early 2008 Nothing to Do" is making its way into the ears and hearts of those who tremble at the notion of fresh creativity in Jazz - by two women who can tell you what it is! Felicia and Amy have utilized the talents of Bob Butta on piano, Frank Russo on drums, and Donato Soviero on guitars to weave a spell on audiences - by this time, both women are used to that. Her experience and expertise pave the way for all of us - well be richer for knowing her journey on Monday. God knows that were richer in hearing her music!
